Fan Misbehaviour Costs Kaizer Chiefs Again
Once again, fans have landed Kaizer Chiefs in hot water, resulting in the club getting heavily penalised.
Over the last two months, Chiefs fans displayed rowdy behaviour on three separate occasions, specifically in the form of hurling objects at then-coach, Molefi Ntseki.
The latest occurrence took place at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, Gauteng on 21 October: following Chiefs’ 1-0 Carling Knockout Cup loss to AmaZulu FC, fans in attendance showed their ire and frustration by pelting Ntseki with projectiles and other objects.
On Tuesday, 31 October, the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee ruled that in light of this recent transgression, the Glamour Boys will play their next match against Cape Town Spurs at FNB Stadium next Wednesday, 8 November, without fans present.
What’s more, per a statement by Zola Majavu, the league’s official prosecutor, they will be fined R300 000.
“With regard to the current transgression, they were fined a monetary fine of R300 000, which is wholly suspended for another period of six months on condition that, in the period of suspension, they are not found guilty of the same offence again,” Majavu wrote.
